This is just another Obama LIE. My Wife earns 15,000 dollars a year more than I earn. Her job is also easier and more glamorous than mine. Also, Sarah Palin earns more than her husband, the blue collar steel worker union member.

  1. just because its true for your wife doesn't mean its true FOR MORE THAN ONE MILLION OTHER WIVES IN AMERICA.

  2. EQUAL WORK.  Do you and your wife work at the same job in the same company?

Women do make less, in general.  Two people doing the same job in the same company for the same amount of time, if the man earns 50k, the woman probably earns about 45k.  That is what Obama is talking about.

  3. Because it is true, they aren't.  He isn't telling women anything they don't know already, but at least he's admitting it's time something was done about it.  You are trying to use your personal feelings about your wife's income and apply it to all other cases.  You are misunderstanding the entire context if you are comparing different types of jobs and what you think they should be worth.  Of course Palin earns more than her husband if she's a governor.  Obama is talking about women earning less than men for doing the exact same job, often with more experience and more years at the job.  It happens all the time, in just about any job category but unions where everyone is paid the same scale.  It used to be that employers would give the excuse that men get paid more because they have families to provide for.  They can't use that excuse anymore since single parents and marriages with two working adults have become the norm and not the exception.  Employers get away with doing this on a regular basis.  The ERA has never been ratified.  Recently a Supreme Court decision came down about this and they were complete cowards about it.  They said that yes, a woman can sue if she finds out that a man with equitable credentials and time at the same job is making more than her - just as long as she sues within some ridiculously short specified time frame after she's hired.  Never mind that no one is going to be able to find out that information until they've been at a job for a while, if ever.

It happens everyday, and it's not right, period.

  4. LOL...well since it is true for you and your wife...then it MUST be true for everyone else...right?

In your case, judging from this intelligent question, I would say your wife just married a loser.

  5. In most cases, statistics tell that it is true.

  6. Yeah tell that to the women holding the stop/go sign making 21.00 an hour and then the poor guy shoveling his a ss off for half that.

Yeah they are so oppressed .

Also it is FACT that many men make more money in a year because they work a h**l of a lot more overtime in the year than women.

  7. Because he doesn't pay them as much as his male staffers.

  8. Because McCain voted against equal pay for equal work, and Bureau of Census statistics show that women make 77% of what men make in the same job title.

Your evidence is like saying the earth cannot be round because it looks pretty flat where I live.

  9. You're looking to anecdotal evidence to prove your point.  Statistics show that women make only 77% of what men do for equivalent work.

  10. Gee, arguing from two data points to generalize a fact for the millions of working women that participate in the work force.  Are you sure you're not in the Bush Administration?  .. on McCain's economic advisory council?  Obama spoke the truth, based on U.S. labor statistics.  The gap has closed over the last twenty years, but there's still a gap.  What is scary is that people like you want to be taken seriously, when your attempts at discrediting Obama are so obviously amateurish that they backfire and discredit you.

  11. Because it's true. Your case is a small one and there will always be minor exceptions, but on average women are currently making much, much less than men.
