  1. XD Good question!

Value, I guess. Plus artificial lemon flavouring/scent doesn't clean up too well!!

  2. Lemon oil, which is extracted from the skin of lemons, is a great wood enhancer. It preserves the wood and gives it a rich appearance. It is also poisonous to drink in quantities much larger than a trace.

Artificial lemon flavoring and smell can be made rather easily, and do not require lemons for their manufacture.

This all makes sense, financially, for the makers of these products. Many drinks are made from artificial products.

  3. Lemons, specifically the skin, has a natural oil that enhances wood.  The essence of lemon juice is a pyschological additive for the smell sense.

  4. Because real lemon has such a strong, tart flavoring when extracted, that its just not palatable for the human taste buds.
