  1. he needs to tell the truth about injuries. that was uncalled for. I lost a lot of respect for Man ram. LETS GO YANKEES!!!!!!!!

  2. Gammons has forever been a Red Sox blow hard, and God forbid someone (Ramirez) actually have the nerve to go against the grain and speak his mind or create controversy...they have to remember if it wasn't for Manny the Sox would NOT have TWO World Series rings.  I agree with those who say Manny is this decade's Reggie Jackson.

  3. Peter has his right to attack Manny, because I'm sure he's tired of this like all of us. Welcome to the world of journalism.

  4. Attacking? I guess the truth hurts.

  5. Gammons is a Boston mouthpeice with a paycheck coming from ESPN and he lets his emotions show far too often in his peices on ESPN...he needs to be better than that!

  6. his number says otherwise or manny wouldn't have two rings

  7. Peter Gammons is one of the best in the business and I would think that this guy is well educated and knows what to say. He makes very strong opinions that might be hard to agree with but, you probably know it's true. A-Rod is a little better player (I think). Gammons might be mad at Manny because with all that manny being manny that makes him a player that could hurt your organization and make people laugh. He wants to be traded, he wants the money, he wants the fame and glory. Well he has got one of those. I don't think he doesn't care about the race, because he has come through for the team without Ortiz.

  8. Well what can i say , this whole incident with Manny is ENOUGH And well he is giving his honest Opinion

  9. Gammons is a Redsox homer.

  10. I can't say it better than Mick.

Manny has tried the patience of all concerned and I wouldn't be surprised if hes his wish to the Mets before the Trade deadline. He's made it publicly clear that he wants out and Theo Epstein Want him out as well. There's no love lost between the two parties. As Mick put it "Manny being Manny has worn on everyone" (Except me I think its a blast). Its just another pampered overpaid spoiled Athlete taking advantage of a situation.

    'Nuff said.

  11. If you do a web search for “Peter Gammons” and “Manny Ramirez” you will find that Gammons has often been very positive about Manny over the years. Based on that, I question Gammons’ objectivity in the column in question. Gammons is generally very good, but I think something is up in this case.

  12. There is a difference between reporting and editorializing.  Gammons is a top notch baseball journalist and just happens to be a Boston guy.  He is usually very objective in his reporting of the game but sometimes wears his feelings on his shoulders when talking about the Sox.  Manny being Manny has worn on just about everyone in baseball.  I don't even think it's a rivalry thing either.  Gammons sees that Manny, by acting the way he has, will surly bring down the Red Sox if it continues.

His teammates can't stand him, the fans are sick of him and Red Sox management is caught between a rock and a hard place.  The question is, do they keep him for the pennant run or unload him?  They know they can't win without him yet they wish he would just go away.

Gammons is pissed because in the final analysis he knows that all the Red Sox want Manny to do is show up and play baseball!  Something that seems to be too difficult for Manny to comprehend.
