  1. As long as the girls are made to join too.

  2. i wasnt aware that it was,

my boyfriend completed his conscription there, they should bring it in in the UK - solve plenty of our social problems for sure......

    *************************************8

whoever gave me a thumbs down---look around, where i live and beyond there a gangs of youth from young teens up to 25 years old drinking on the streets unemployed looking for trouble, too lazy to work ---incidently often the same people who talk down the poles for ''taking our jobs''...(yet when offered the same jobs--- while outside the job centre drinking lager in the morning ---turned them down on national tv)

they have no respect for authority, see no value in education and have no self discipline--largely due to englands over cooshtie welfare system,  often this is due to low self esteem and coming from the bottom of the social ladder  etc etc ....

a year in the army wouldnt do them any harm, discipline, a taste of hard work, a chance to do well at something, find a talent, work well with others.......a fair few would stay on!!

  3. Concription is an old-fashioned way of forming the army... professional army which has only volunteers and pays them for their service is much better and more effective than the one that is made of conscripts.

From another point of view conscription means wasting young person's year of life. Most of the people don't want to go to the army and there is a Polish proverb "you won't make an effective employee from a slave".

Information for those who don't believe: Polish Minister of Defence announced that this year's draft is the last draft in the Polish army. Polish troops will be 100% professional without any draftees starting next year.

  4. I also live there and haven't heard that they are ending conscription.. (I think I would have  so if you know something maybe include a link to support your claim.) But its more like mandatory youth military service (for people who don't go to university)

The truth is that the professional army is doing more of the heavy lifting/fighting in iraq afghanistan. No draftees are sent there. That is a strictly volunteer mission selected form professional army. so by some measure the conscript army is rather obsolete and non essiential. Its mostly 19 year old biys (and girls)  in uniform
