Re avoiding the name confusion when you encounter horse-lovers in future:  "Philip" is almost always the spelling for the first name, and "Phillips" is almost always the spelling for the surname.

As an American, I must say that Prince Philip is just about the last member of the British Royal Family that I would ever consider a dork.  He has always been eminently stylish, dare I say cool, and especially witty.  Speaking ones mind does not make one a dork.

"Where did you get that hat?" - Prince Philip to his wife immediately after her coronation.

He is the product of a dysfunctional family.His only real home has been with his wife. His father left him and his mother to live with a mistress.And his mother,poor dear,was mentally unstable.

I was always wondering that too.Maybe,it's because he is forced to always walk behind the Queen everytime.He has always come second,and he always will.He isn't anybody important in The Royal Family.At least,he isn't to me.
