Why is Pune called eton of the east? when earlier it was called a pensioners paradise.?

  1. What do you mean by Eton of the east? As far as i know Eton is a college in the UK? Pl correct me if i am wrong. Its known as the oxford of the east due to the many "good" educational institutes. Now but the standard has gradually come down. Its still good but not as good as it used to be. It was a pensioners paradise because of the slow pace of life, peace, greenery many yrs ago. But now due to growing population and globalization the slow pace of life has turned into a fast and hectic lifestyle due to most if IT firms opening shop. Its no more peacefull as it used to be. Still better than many other metros though.
