Why is Rex on BB9 so vile? Answers on a postcard please...?

I would be interested to know if anyone could explain to me why Rex is so nasty. Can he really function in life being so revolting? Can he really think so much of himself he can talk to and abuse people the way he does, please explain!

I like Rex.

I dont think he is 'revolting' or 'vile'.

Just a normal person.

He doesnt abuse people, he just jokes around with them, and everyone knows that he is joking.

he acts so snobbish and higher because he has all his resturaunts. he's just a mean piece of work, his girlfriends no better either,
