Why is Russia so Agressive ?

Why is Russia so agressive ? Why did Russia manipulate the Ossetians and Georgians to war !

Do Russians ohnestly feel threaten from countries like Poland,Georgia etc that the only way is to occupy them and annex them. Why Russia's politics are always agressive !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because they haven't managed, or don't want to, purge themselves of the consuming evil that fueled the USSR.  Too many Russians look back at those days of enslaving their neighbors as "the good old days" so they have no problem with starting that up again.

Or maybe they were just pissed that Georgia has as many gold medals as they do in the olympics.

Russia is not threaten by Poland and, espescially, by Georgia because russians won the WWII.

United States of America are the most aggressive and hateful country in the world (Vietnam, Grenada, Nikaragua, Iraq, Afghanistan). All they want is just to make others obey their rules but not the democracy as they declare.

The right question is "why georgian politics are so aggressivly stupid?"

The answer is "because US president was too dumb to promise them kind of support if any"

To Sergey, I guess that you are russian and guess that you are so aggressive like russia and so disappointed like Russia because there is no country in the world to support Russia's actions in Georgia. And I understand that you are extremely nervous and angry and don't know what to do, and you have stolen the question of this user here and have posted it a "bit" changed, you don't even have your own ideas!

They just want to show off their military strength and their weapons and machines are getting old so they wanted to use them.

the answer is simple - they have ALWAYS been aggresive,

today even Russian mass-media and NGO reps proved it by signing an open letter againts their own government, showing what a " Democratic" country they have, Bombing the journalists in the town of Gori, killng russian journalist in Tstkinvali,, they are aggressive and cruel with Russians y are u surprised they are aggressive to the rest of hte world?!

They are threatened by NATO and EU (Georgia wants to join those alliances).  They don't want their neighbors going with the West. Any country would also feel the threat if your neighbors go with your competitors right? They are also now very bold, knowing that the US is now weak and practically the whole of EU depends on a big chunk of Russia's oil exports.

Actually, Russia are no more aggressive than most Western states would be in their position. Imagine if, for some reason, Mexico had a region, where 90% of the residents were American citizens. Mexico suddenly decided they were going to invade that area - would you expect the American government to sit back and do nothing? No. And I'm pretty sure that Russia don't feel threatened by Georgia and Poland, and so on, but rather, they are afraid that if Georgia and Poland continue to align themselves with American politics, then they may eventually allow American military power to be deployed in those states. And they don't trust the Americans. To be honest, given America's record recently in Iraq and Afghanistan, I wouldn't trust them either. It's all buffer politics, but the issue is separate with S. Ossetia and Abkhazia.
