Why is Russian invading Georgia?

They have reasons. Maybe oil?

They obviously have been planning it out for a while. Using the Olympics as a distraction and all that.

They are trying to get the US to launch a nuclear attack on them. The Olympic distraction is not something they need. They want to provoke a nuclear war and the USA should give them one. What the h**l, why not?

The western media spin on it with those headlines belies the fact that 1500 were already dead from the conflict with southern ossetia. We need to be wary against those who would not tell the entire story. Remember the school massacre in Beslan due to the geurilla fighters . That was North Ossetia. There are terrorists groups all around but the average person in the US only reads the media bias headlines without studying the geography and history. Russia did not suddenly invade.

Ossetia, a province of Georgia is trying to separate and Georgia, with military force is trying to stop the separation.  Russia claims that a majority of Ossetians carry Russian passports and therefore as Russians, they need the protection of Russia.

Bush and his administration are acting so shocked that any country should invade the sovereign state of another.  McCain agrees and Obama seems to have backed off of abject indignation as well as he should.

This pipeline theory is really quite silly as the pipeline would need to go through all og Georgia, not just Ossetia.

It's Georgia who attacked Ossetia. Georgia was bombing Ossetia for 15 hours before Russian troops came.

And Geogia was the one who used the Olympics. A month agothey  cut off the water pipe to Ossetia; they want them back but Ossetia doesn't want it.

Yeah, oil and oil pipelines running to Turkey as well as the fact that if NATO approved Georgia's membership the paranoid Russians would have to deal with a NATO ally on their border and the fact that NATO is deploying missile defense.  Russia's conventional forces are second rate and the only deterrent it has in case of conflict with NATO is it's nuclear power.
