  1. So that she doesn't find out that Vicky Pollard is her long lost sister?

  2. Family is involved in the abduction, so all family are suspect

  3. for her safety as an extended member of the family had her,  its whilst furter investigations are made.

normal .. is anything a bout ANY abduciton normal ?

  4. she was kidnapped by a family member, so they need to keep all family away till theyve worked out what was going on and who was in cahoots with this uncle.

  5. to find out everything relevent to her disappearence

  6. While her Mum does a deal with the News of the World.

  7. It is so that the police can find out exactly what happened without any family member swaying the child's story because the alleged abductor is a family member too.

Shannon and her mum can have supervised visits which is better than none I suppose.

As to whether this is normal procedure I don't know.  I presume a precedent must exist

I'm not angry at your question I have tried to give a reasoned answer but like you I don't really know if this is usual procedure

  8. News 24 has just asked this question.  Her mum is in contact with her to give her emotional support but they want to get what happenned to Shannon straight without any influence from anyone else.  The poor kid also needs a time of quiet and stability - that estate is in such an excited state that she would not get that there.

It is nothing to do with her mother being a bad parent or having any involvement but they need to find out exactly what happenned in a safe, controlled environment.

  9. It is normal, the police have got to thorough examine her medically and physically, also they have to ask a lot of questions. This can take a lot of time to do.

  10. she has been reuinited for a short period of time, but like the first answer says, they need her side first.

Also during the hunt, there was a lot of family fued's brought up, so they need to make sure she is safe with her mum/family first.

  11. So they can get her side of the story.

  12. Possibly to ensure the child gives her account of the events rather than being told what to say by her mother. The Police will be struggling to charge this man with Abduction if Shannon went with him on her own accord. It could be that he found her crying that day and took her home to comfort her, then afterwards got scared at having her.Shannon is 9 yrs old and maybe had the opportunity of attracting attention to herself, to be let free..Either way it is testament to family problems up and down the country and their are many living in deprived areas in similar situations as this.

But then the Government are too busy in attending the needs of Immigrants rather than our own.Thank God Shannon is alive and well and we should now be thinking on the lines of preventing any similar occurence.

  13. So they can do something about it, because they couldn't even find a weapon on a electrician so they killed him, they couldn't have a clue about where she was until they've received a phone call to go pick her up so they kept her, at least she can have some Donuts.

And some people still make abuse and call the Portuguese Police Incompetent, if they've had this situation (media and "parents" not disturbing their job) Shannon would've been home on the second day.

  14. I thought it may also be to prevent the media from getting there first.  I should imagine BIG bucks would have been offered, and that could have also hampered the police investigation.

  15. She has been placed under police protection for her own safety and for reasons which will eventually be reported upon...  The police wouldn't do this unless they had good reason...

  16. Leave that one to Social Services and the Police. The facts need to be established for any impending trial or trials and potentially for any long term care orders for this poor child.

  17. yeah they are doing medicals etc. to make sure she wasnt sexually abused. and asking questions.

if he has they will need proof in order to incriminate him.

  18. She isn't being kept from her Mum. She has been reunited with her just not allowed to go home with her.

Shannon was heard to say she didn't want to go home before she went missing so the best place for her at the momnent is someplace she can have some peace & quiet, away from the pressures of the family. Sometimes it isn't easy to tell your closest family if something unpleasant has happened to you so it will be easier for her to talk to a sympathetic policewoman or social worker than a family member.
