What is it exactly? It tastes like sweet cough syrup to me, but maybe it's whiskey, I don't know. Tell me!

  1. It is a peach liqueur.

It is next to the whiskey because there a lot of morons who think it is Bourbon - the spirit on which it is based.

  2. It's flavored whiskey.  http://www.southerncomfort.com/

  3. It's a bourbon based drink to which sugar and flavour has been (rather liberally) added.  Bourbon is a whisky made from corn, as opposed to Canadian Whisky which is made from rye and Scotch which is made from barley.

  4. no idea

  5. i think it is a whiskey just not as harsh as others!

  6. a liquor made from bourbon

  7. its whiskey its not as high a proof as jack but its still whiskey

  8. Young people drink Southern Comfort because it tastes sweet.  THey place it next to the whiskey so that young people can feel better about drinking something that has been labeled a "kid's drink".   It can't be a kid drink if it's in the whiskey section.

It is just alcohol with flavorings added.  Peach nectar but mostly sugar and artificial flavor.  You have to drink it once in your life. Everyone does.

  9. Because it IS whiskey!
