  1. According to a reference book 'Cardinal " refers to a school color, no bird. Their mascot is supposed to be a tree. Go figure!


  2. They changed it maybe 20 years ago when they where the Stanford Indians.   Its very un PC so under protest they changed.  They don't give a d**n about Cardinal, they just picked something that would not upset people.
