Why is Tennislink asking me to self-rate myself again?

I've already done that long ago, when I registered for a league for the first time. Why again self-rating? I thought, now that they have a record they will rate me themselves.

  1. Maybe they do not trust you! lol..jkjk

  2. When you say long ago, how long are you talking about? Has your USTA membership been kept current? If you don't play in leagues for 2 years you are dropped from the computer. If you allow your USTA membership to expire you have to start over again after 2 years. If you enter your name differently on a new membership (such as adding or dropping a middle initial) the computer will not recognize you and you have to self-rate again.

We have teams here where I play who do this intentionally to rate themselves lower than they actually are. By renewing their membership and spelling their name differently they beat the system and play on teams they don't belong on. Unfortunately this type of cheating is hard to police.
