Why is Thailand so screwed-up for getting a visa for one year when legitimately employed in Thailand?

Being in the petroleum industry I lived and worked "legally" in 10 countries. I never saw anything like this. Even the head of the Japanese C of C was on Thai TV complaining.

  1. like most nations, I imagine they'd much prefer that jobs in Thailand go to their own citizens, so they place all sorts of barriers in the way of non-citizens working there.  Visa probems are just one of those barriers.

    We do it here in the US as well.
