  1. ahh, this takes me back to eighth grade.

well, the Book of the Courtier was the first book officially published that defined the stereotypes that men were the strong, invincible, bread earner in the family and that women were the fragile, weaker gender that had to be led. The book itself is mostly a discussion about what defines a man discussed by prominent figures in society, mostly men, and the hostess. only one section is devoted to defining how the perfect woman should suit the perfect man, and how she should act to please and honor the man in society.
