The lion lives in the Savannah, not the jungle.

I hate being all technical but it seriously makes no sense.

  1. the statement is a misnomer.( look it up)  ...why get technical?  Basically saying that no other animal has the guts to go up against a lion...even animals of the jungle.  I hope you are not losing sleep over this!

  2. prob because there are a lot of metaphorical jungles out there..(i.e. urban jungle, its a jungle out there) since the lion is a top predator in his area / his mane is king like ...the term probably arose king of the jungle

  3. lol nikki you should've asked this at the Polls and Surveys section. They get technical over there. :)

  4. it is the fiercest animal in the jungle but not at savannah

  5. because lions are beastly. and why do you care?  no affence. i just dont get the point of asking that.

  6. you are right it is stupid because they do live in the jungle.

  7. The lion has been called the King of Beasts for centuries, due to its regal appearance and noble bearing, and the fact that it is a top predator. Some people tend to think of wild animals as 'jungle animals' - hence, King of the Jungle. Whilst you are right in that the majority of lions are found on the savannahs of Africa, there is a small population of Asiatic lions in the Gir Forest of India. These lions could more aptly be referred to as kings of the jungle, but generally the term King of Beasts is more appropriate, if you consider giving animals human titles appropriate at all.
