  1. just because it is !!

    names and spellings have come down through the ages and changed along the way


  2. Stems from old English spelling.

    Ton being a unit of weight. Originally there was a bridge over the river that could take a 1 ton load (A lot in the days of horse and cart).

    Tun is an old name for a Barrel. Probably in the past they were made there.
