Question:

Why is Tyson so hated?

To me, he is a real person, not some God like idol. I know what BS is like. I was in the clink more times than I can count (seriously). Sometimes when the world around you cllapses, you do get nutty. You get this "I don't care" attitude. I made mistakes. But I cleaned up my act. I kind of hate how some people who lived such a clean life can turn around and condemn others. I am not saying Tyson was the greatest or that he never did bad things, but why can't people just let him have a break?

  1. he raped a woman and he is a lazy good for nothing drug fiend

  2. Tyson is not as "Hated" elsewhere as he is here.  The reason he is so hated is because Haters are usually Followers.  Some hate him and OThers just Follow the Haters.  Many of those who "hate" Tyson dont really know much about him at all .  They just go by what they hear from others,  as haters often do.

  3. I don't think hate is the right word. Mikes general disrespect for those around him, and females in general is a negative, it's tough to respect a convicted rapist.  The criminal history of mugging little old lady's while carrying their grocery's doesn't help, so you can credit the media for some of Tyson's negative image, but realistically, Mike was responsible for his own behavior, and a lot of it was simply negative.  It is difficult to "like" mentally unstable, violent criminals.  Most people don't like thugs.

Nobody "hates" Mike Tyson, most are simply ashamed of what he did, which is in many ways even worse than hate.  Mike humilaited himself in front of millions, and he was obnoxious and dangerous to himself and others while doing it.  Such behavior doesn't translate to "hate" by those who observed the behavior.  It instills a definate sense of contempt , a lack of respect, and in some even disgust, but not hate.

A sad legacy for a pretty good fighter, too bad Mike had such an attitude, dishonor is like a scar on a tree, it gets bigger with time.

  4. Hate is a very interesting word in and of itself.  I don't hate the man but his actions were deplorable.

He and O.J. are  sports celebrities (and others) that the public put on pedestals.  It is difficult to watch them fall.  When they do, the public can go one of two ways:

    -They can choose to hate

-They can choose to turn a blind eye and defend

Neither of them can ever have what they accomplished in their sports careers stripped away from them.  Those who were there at the time and watched them in their awesome glory will always remember the champions they were in the ring and on the field.  However, what they did in their private lives will also be remembered and judged by others as they were judged in courts of law.

You are a common person.  If you made mistakes the only people you let down were your family and friends.  You didn't let down all of TV-land and beyond.  It is a joy to hear that you have come out of the darkness and changed.  Recidivism is hard to overcome, you are one of the few - Congratulations ~D

  5. He's playin Dirty!

  6. he got taken advantages by bad peoples and he got convicted of raping, and drugs, many other bad things and he bite ear off during fight, it is unprofessional to me,., but still i have respect for mike tyson because he did alot of things in boxing, i think he was the greatest in his prime, but sadly he got taken advantages from some people and his career eventually fall apart, i also heard he is going to fight kimbo slice..

  7. There are people who hate Tyson because of the disrespect and contempt he has for others. He is a rapist, mugger, ear biter and as many have left out, a self admitted wife beater.

I do think that's the start or base root of why people have issues with him, the other reason is that there are many people give him far more credit than he is due in the ring. Some people consider him the greatest or near the greatest, yet looking at his accomplishments, it doesn't add up. People like to think he would have been the greatest if Cus D'Amato hadn't passed away. Weather that is true or not can never be determined. All we can judge is what he did in the ring. He lost his biggest fights by KO. There is no getting around that. Yet there are some people that refuse to accept that and still consider him the greatest. This makes others look at him with contempt, add on to that his personal life and you get what you get.

  8. People really  need to study up on the circumstances of Tyson's "rape" conviction.

The man was railraoded, and whole thing was more BS then Kobe Bryant and Lacross players being accused.

Tyson was poorly represented by King camp, and judge omitted testimony by Desiree Washington's former boyfriend who she accused of rape after they had s*x so she didn't have to tell her father she was no longer a virgin.

There was also two witnesses that saw Washington kissing Tyson and persuing him aggressively, but where omitted to testify because "submitted too late."

Let's also not forgett that she left Tyson hotel room late at night, went to her's and called the police to tell them she was "brutally" raped, yet had no physical damage. I don't care who you are, if a woman was brutally raped by someone like Tyson, they'd been in ER.

But because was Tyson, the scary HW Champ, people just assumed he did it, as opposed to support Kobe and Lacross players and waiting for all facts to come out.

  9. because the general public is ignorant. mike was made into a clown by the media and most people believe everything there t.v. tells them. its mike's fault for his various acts of lunacy, but if you add all the famous clips of mike biting ears and rambling incoherently in interviews, it adds up to about 4 minutes of total air time, and yet the media portrays mike to be a lunatic 24/7. he's a normal person who has had drug problems and generally regrets what he has done to mess up his life, but he is not a physco. in short, people hate him because it makes them feel better about themselves to put someone else down  (how many stupid ear jokes have you heard?)a lot of people are jealous as well, mike has seen and done things they could never hope to do, hating mike is kind of like a security blanket to make themselves feel important, but let me add in the end that I am not condoning or supporting mike with the rape case, IF he raped her that is wrong and he deserves more than three years in prison

  10. tyson was perhaps the best in his prime top 3 heavyweights of all time but he will always be remembered for rape biting ears etc people hail holyfield and lewis for beating him up because of these antics and i agree biting holyfields ear was a disgrace but prime  tyson would most likely have beaten holyfield or lewis in their primes  when you fire your traines refuse to get proper trainers get out of shape go to jail for a few yrs get loose your skills and speed and depend on one punch you tend to loose to in shape properly trained guys

  11. I don't think Tyson is so hated.  I was at his last bout against  Kevin McBride in Washington, DC and most of the crowd was definitely for Tyson and a good percentage of that were women.

When Tyson got his license to fight in DC, there were members from the National Organization for Women in attendance, but they were outnumbered by a group called FIST -- Females In Support of Tyson.

I think a lot of the anger against Tyson comes from what might have -- and should have been.  Tyson should have been regarded as the greatest heavyweight of at least the last 30 years and maybe of all time.  He was certainly headed in that direction.

He made some very foolish mistakes and let people who were only there for the money be a part of his life.  I contend that Tyson wanted to leave boxing after the loss to Buster Douglas, but he was still a major cash magnet to a lot of people.  The McBride loss was a relieving loss to Tyson because it finally allowed him to say something that he had wanted to say since 1990 --"I don't want to do this anymore."

In the dressing room after that bout (and I was there when he said it) he basically poured out his heart and said he didn't have it in him to fight anymore.

I think many people are angry about what he did in his personal life, but I think it's more about what he didn't do in his professional life.

  12. Rapist, mugger, ear biter - pick one!

  13. I don't know why people hated him he was my favorite boxer in the 1980's and 1990's
