Question:

Why is U.S. television and internet media so full of propaganda?

Very few stories on the Russia/Georgia/South Ossetia conflict mention the fact that Georgia shelled the heck out of South Ossetia and killed an estimated 2000 people (a 9/11 event if you will).

Instead we are subject to repeated condemnations of Russia, demands that they sign the ceasefire agreement Georgia wants, no mention of Russia's attempt to get a measure passed in the UN Security Council before they gave up and invaded.

Don't get me wrong, Russia is doing this for economic gain. All wars, the War in Iraq, the War in Afghanistan, the War on Terror, all of these are for economic gain.

Terrorism, tyrants, WMD, dictators, freedom, these reasons are all for public consumption because the public cannot stomach and would not support wars for outright economic gain.

So what is with all the propaganda in the U.S., isn't it incredibly transparent? Or is it just me?

P.S. Yahoo News is just as guilty about this, they are what inspired me to ask this in the first place.

  1. Well, I am with you on some points. You are right, it is sad that our press is taking Georgia's side when they were the aggressors. Russia should cream them and teach other upstart nations a lesson.

I really do not like supporting Russia, but they are in the right here.

However, not all wars are for economic gain. Especially Iraq... we are spending quite a lot on it, and we have no economic gain there. We are not paying less for oil, and not getting paid to protect the new regime.

  2. No its not you.Your buying into the left wing propaganda, Try some conservative TV or listen to Rush Limbaugh here the truth then make a decision what real,

  3. I wonder how many people the Russians have killed? How do we know who is telling the truth? Georgia says that Russia has been inciting trouble for a long time. Georgia also claims that the separatists have been attacking Georgia before Georgia attacked them. Russia has been mad at the fact that Georgia wanted to join NATO. And there is a big gas/oil pipeline going through Georgia. So I don't think we know the full truth yet. Could this be another war for oil??

  4. The media tells you what they want you to hear. I know about Georgia's attack on South Ossetia because I read about it on a backwater forum. It's sad, really. We don't get real news anymore.

  5. Old news - why b/c few corporations own it, and they only want us to see what they want us to see. Take for example conflict with Iran, media has not mentioned while the conflict is going on between Russia and Georgia, US armada is heading towards Iran. If US media was competent there never would've been Iraq war.
