  1. the fact that the older coldplay used a lot of the same processed and digital guitar sound that the Edge always used. a lot of echo and delay, which Coldplay's guitarist even says was inspired by the Edge. They started to move away from it recently though....

  2. because of the political nature the two lead singers both share, vocal similarites? some say they sound exactly the same but i know bono when i hear him, those are the only two similarities i see....

  3. Because their Guitarist comes from The Edge/David Gilmour Guitar School sound.

  4. Maybe it's because of their level of popularity.

  5. cuz people think coldplay could be the next U2

personally, i think they have no chance

  6. Uh yeah close youe eyes and listen to The Scientist think you are listening to U2, he so very much sounds like Bono.

he really has a very similar voice to Bono.  He can hit those same notes and is also a tenor.  Back in 2004 when that song came out I thought it was U2 because the radio station said that a new U2 song was coming on.

    Their music styles are similar

Keane is also similar to U2, not in vocals but in muscical style.

U2 has great influence because they are a great band.

No other band can outsell concerts like they can, nor has remained together with all the original members since their conception.

They are the iconic rock band.

  7. I agree with the 1st post, their level popularity and their songs have life to them. You will be hearing their music 10 20 30 years from now.

  8. I think its because they are both highly overrated.

  9. overproduction... so much stuff is added in post-production to give it that 'epic' effect

  10. Coldplay is BEING COMPARED TO U2

You got it the wrong way.

Coldplay can't even compare to U2.

    U2 IS LEGEND.

  11. I have no idea.  To me, they sound completely different.  I like both U2 and Coldplay, so I would guess that it's either popularity, both British bands and whatnot.
