Why is United Airlines closing down Ted airlines?

  1. When airlines try to create an airline within an airline, ir rarely works.  United used to have Shuttle by United.  You would see these planes fly routes within California and along the western states.  Also Continental had CALite.  Just as people said, Ted probably did not save United much money so the airline wants to focus more on its core name of United.


  2. Much though I wish the prior answer was the correct one, the boring true answer is that the cost savings that Ted was supposed to provide never happened, so they're just merging its routes back into the rest of United.

    You want a low-cost airline, check out Frontier, Jetblue, the new Virgin America, and of course Southwest.

  3. Because they're starting a new airlines called Uni.

  4. Because trying to support a low cost airline with these high gas prices is very hard. Not to mention Ted was not used as much as United had intended. And frankly United didn't need it for some reason people still fly it even thought it's so expensive.
