Why is University of California Berkeley such a hard school to get in to???

Becaue it's a cheaper alternative to top private schools for the heaps of middle class, smart kids in California. At $25,000 per year, it's half the price of Stanford, USC and other private colleges the same kids apply to.

Though relatiely, it's not that hard to get into. Their 22% acceptance rate is more than twice that of schools they like to compare themselves to.

Because it's a renown privatized university with top of the line faculty, programs, and student body. Accepting everybody who's anybody would just make them another university.
