Why is Wales playing Australia in Cardiff when the World Cup is in France?

  1. Vote buying.

    I can't recall who else was bidding to host the 07 world cup, but I suspect the Welsh and Scottish unions offered their votes to France conditional to hosting some home games (and isn't there a 1/4final in Cardiff too?). If France really couldn't handle the whole Cup themselves, I'd much rather have seen Italy get some games in Milan and Rome, but then I have some strange ideas about making my favourite sports more international rather than keeping things tied up in the old boys network....


  2. The WRUin along with scotland gave france their votes..so that they could get games..

    If Australia had the foresight to do the same they would have had a few home games too....and don't try to tell me they "would never dream of doing such a thing".
