Why is Yahoo deleting accounts at record pace?

anyone else notice this or is it just me? three accounts gone within a week.

i think they are purging the system in anticipation for their new MB format. I think they will have a probation period before you're allowed to post. for example, you'll have to have an account in good standing for three months or something like that before you can post on the new format MBs.

  1. violaters and hackers who are causing problems.

  2. I can't speak for Yahoo, but from what I've seen here at Yahoo Answers (ridiculous amounts of spam, racism, heavy insulting of people who post questions or answers, point-gaming, "trollish" behavior", advocating illegal activities) I think they are not deleting ENOUGH accounts.

  3. I wonder if my account has been deleted?  I've done my best to battle the liberals and Yahoo might not like it.  I doubt they will put in any kind of lengthy probation period.  It  would cause people to lose interest in the site.  To be honest, I doubt there is a whole lot they can do other than creating a bigger pool of censorship to run every message by before it posts.  It they put delays on people's posts it will thwart the immediacy of your response to the story and to other posters.  This won't work because the discussions are on current news stories that won't be too current in a couple of hours.  So, delays will cause most people to leave the boards.

  4. I don't think they are deleting them fast enough. There are still a ton of Fake/Spammers/Scammers on here.

I would wager that fraudulent profiles outnumber real accounts 3 to 1.

  5. I for one liked the old Yahoo MBs.  Sure, there was rough language, hate posts and threats, but I'm kinda past 8th grade now and stuff like that is amusing to me.  Maybe some posters should learn to use the ignore button or post on the Jerry Falwell Discussion Boards.

  6. If you're a troll, you're deleted.  Simple as that.

  7. Maybe it's people committing violations around this space at the same pace

  8. As much as I miss the message boards, what I miss is the free-wheeling discussion, humor, conversation.  But the boards were becoming less and less attractive due to some (not really very many) people who were using them to make posts that were pointless and ugly--and in violation of Yahoo's terms of service.

What it appears they are doing is revising the MBs to minimize this problem--and getting ridd of some of the worst offenders.  You've likely seen some posts crying"censorship"--but remember, this is free service Yahoo provided, and they are not the government.  They set only minimal rules for posting--but even those were abused.  They are under no obligation to put up with it--and the majority of us who jsut want to have discussions or jus thave fun shouldn't have to, either.

I do hope they can put this to rights--I do enjoy the MBs, and haven't found other MBs on the net to equal them.

  9. SINCE GOOGLE IS ZOOMING ---YAHOO HAS BEEN CALLED UP ON THE CARPET IN FINANCIAL MARKETS AROUND THE WORLD....THEIR LAST QUARTER PROFIT-WISE HAS SUCKED....NOW IT'S S__T OR GET

  10. I didn't know that was happening but frankly, I'm glad.

How many account(s) do you have?

I have only one that I've had since 1997.

My understanding of it is, that anyone who has more than one yahoo I.D. is probably a troll and therefore SHOULD be deleted.

    Just my opinion.

  11. Yahoo is run by godless commies. I am going to be shaking my deletion in anger at the next shareholder meeting
