They show the one that wasn't full out of many, many grandstands.

  1. That still photo is not of MIS.  MIS has strange grand stands.  The front stretch seats are red and yellow.  The only silver seating is on the turns and they are small sections of seating.  Plus, that track is has too much banking to be MIS.  I am pretty sure that is Dover in the picture.  Especially because that is a photo of a backstretch (you can see fans on the infield) and MIS has no seating on the backstretch.

As for choosing that picture, they are trying to maximize their point.  The stands have been looking VERY empty at most tracks.  Dover even had some sections completely blocked off with giant posters/ads over top of the seats (Think Oakland A's style- for those who don't know the A's tarp over extra seating because they share a stadium with the Raiders and don't need all the seats).  Michigan was also VERY empty- especially when they came off of nearly 30 consecutive sell outs just 2 years ago!

  2. Cause there were 40,000 empty seats there for a race that always sells out. But,alas 40,000 is better than 75,000 empty ones like the California track has 2 times a year..lol

  3. Attnendance is definitely down.NASCAR needs more personalities.Bring back d**k Trickle.

  4. They are empty nascar has been raising ticket cost every year. Cant afford to go any more and by the looks of it I'm not the only one.

  5. I was there and all the Grand Stands were not empty, I like to say they were just much roomier ;)  But yes the stands coming into turn 3 were a little vacant.  I also would bet the weather had something to do with it.  I was up at 4:00 am and on The Weather Channel the whole southern region of Michigan was in the RED ZONE, severe thunderstorm warnings all day long.  They couldn't have been more wrong it was 82 and a sunny beautiful day.

There were still like 30,000 tickets available.  Gas prices are just killing everything including the turn-outs at sporting events.

  6. Probably because Michigan has been pretty full in the past, but idk...I wouldn't buy a ticket to that track..h**l,I wouldn't drive up there if someone gave me a free ticket!!!

  7. I was thinking the same thing.  Some stands were full and some were not.  But it is like most things in the media.  It just depends what story line that they are pushing determines what photo goes with the article.

  8. I noticed that too and I thought my vision was playing tricks on me.

I can not answer that question, except now I know that I was not having a visual hallucination.

  9. I hadn't noticed that thanks for pointing it out.
