Why is Yahoo so against punctuation marks?

I love using explanation points sometimes, and a happy face sometimes. Is that too much?

  1. Yahoo is too mindlessly picky.  That being said, however, remember

    that exclamation points should be used sparingly.  (They should not

    be used for mere emphasis, but to indicate something that is actually

    shouted.  Also, don't use a string of them.)


  2. Maybe to stop the yelling, but its pretty stupid to apply that restriction.

  3. Or maybe the person who designed the filter was grammatically impaired!
