Why is a flower science?

why is a flower, trees, mountains, etc.. science?

These things are not science, but they can be better understood if the principles of science are used in studying them.

Science is "to know."  If you want to know about a flower it is best to apply the methods of science.  

You can just look at a flower.  You can think and imagine about how it works or why it is as it is.  You can conjure up fantastic stories about it.  OR

You can study it and by doing so learn what it is for and how it works.  If you do so you may employ bees to pollinate a crop and thereby increase the crop yield.  You may learn how to create hybrids.  You may learn about fragrances.  And other things...
