Why is a kitten food protective?

my kitten is 3 months old and its over protective of its food?

why is that?

  1. When you say over protective, do you mean that she will eat up all her food as soon as being served? This is a very natural tendency because cats are predator. They do not know when their next meal is going to be and therefore most cats turn into a glutton. But a young cat will normally only eat as much as needed to fuel the body and will rarely overeat. Make sure you are feeding high quality food so there is a need to eat less to fell satiated. Also, a quality food will guarantee maximum nutrient absorption and less wastage.


  2. Probably because it's afraid it won't have enough to eat.  If it was starving at some point, it will take some time for it to understand the food will always be there.
