The difference between politicians and celebrities is that politicians are *supposed* to be leaders.

Now I can't even say I'm not okay with someone letting her daughter go out and get knocked up without it being considered being a bully?

Why should this politician, who alleges to be Christian and alleges to know what's best for my country be immune from being criticized when we criticize the mothers of teen celebrities who get knocked up and those mothers of teens AREN'T asking to be my leader.

Why can't I publicly say I abhor the message she's sending my teen son without being told I am doing so for any reason other than the fact that I abhor it and if parents don't speak out, who will?

  1. You can say whatever you want, but no one really cares about the rantings of a crazy.

Oh, Premarital s*x is completely okay.

  2. Maybe the actual message is Love and kindness in the face of adversity? Maybe it is that we all make mistakes and that our parents and our heavenly father will always love us? Or maybe the lesson is Judge not lest you be judged.

  3. ok. whatever that was about.

  4. Because it does not work in reverse, the Dems are not spoke about.  Why crucify a 17 year old?  Why could they not talk of Chelsae

  5. Double standards my friend. Sucks don't it? That and we must be politically correct all the time now. If you criticize them it'll be because you're sexist, or some other bullshit reason

  6. First of all I sincerely doubt that Mrs. Palin LET her daughter go and get pregnant.  But what is/was she supposed to go about it.  Put her daughter away for getting pregnant, or perhaps force her to have an abortion?  Surely as a parent yourself you know that you can "tell" a child what to do.  Even beg, plead, scold, threaten etc. however, your kids (especially teenagers) still won't necessarily do what you say

  7. I don't know that she's sending any particular message. Any more than Slick Willie was sending a message that adultery is okay. When someone's having s*x, they aren't really thinking of it as a public service announcement (well, maybe a guy will, for the sake of longevity). Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

  8. Why do mothers blame everyone else BUT themselves on why their children turn out horribly!

  9. it is a chain spam letter.  The letter isn't sent directly to your son, they send it to any and everyone whose email they got.  If your son is an atheist and is poking around on atheist sites, some christians sites may hook on to them and get emails like that.

You can say that you abhor this message. Still the internet is a public forum and people will send spam mail.

  10. The politicians will do what they do, and it's terrible that they are enforcing this kind of law. Or, at least, not doing anything to change it.

The sad truth is, you can't control what other people do. All you can do is teach your son the right way - teach him that it's not okay to do that, and hope with all your heart that he listens to you. And if he doesn't, then punish him, but remember it's his choice.

  11. How about a President that sends a message that it is OK to get a BJ from a young woman in the White House!

  12. I suspect they are not Christian.

Christianity does NOT endorse premarital sexual relations.

What we are living in, is a "politically correct" society, where everyone does what is right in their own eyes, and should never be chastised for their choices.

Now, consider the history of ancient Israel. This is EXACTLY how it became for them. We read of the disastrous consequences that came to them.

Even celebrities have some influence. Unfortunately, the reason why some are "hoisted up" as examples for everyone is NOT for any other reason that the companies that hire them are making money off them...times used to be, if there was ANY question of their character, they wouldn't stand a chance of getting anywhere.

You CAN say publicly what you think. And I would be willing to bet that there are a hundred thousand others that would agree with you.

  13. Sarah Palin is the kind of Christian who wants others to conform strictly to her idea of what her religion is, but cuts herself and her family a lot of slack because of circumstances. It's called "situational ethics".

In other words, she's a Hypocrite.

    .

  14. Hey, I totally think you can. I also think that praising this girl for not getting an abortion (as if every pregnant teen who doesn't get an abortion should get a pat on the back) and talking about how this 17 year old who hasn't even graduated from high school is going to get married (as if marriage is a solution to everything) is ridiculous. It's straight out of the pages of bad tv - like McCain was watching The Secret Life of the American Teen and thought "now that's how I'll get votes."

  15. *your* son ? *except* for that *one* peculiarity I pretty much agree with *everything* you're saying.

  16. You should be more focused on the part where she accepts responsibility for her action and isnt having an abortion. Although she is saying, 'hey I did it', she isnt saying, 'and now Im going to cover it up'. Focus on the good and bad. Yea she got prego, big deal. But at least shes teaching young people to take responsibility for their actions, and Im sure she got that from her Dad.

  17. "I'm not okay with someone letting her daughter go out and get knocked up"

Wow...what a very fundie-like statement.  You know full well that kids do stupid stuff, irregardless of their parents' efforts, sometimes.

  18. You pl are full of it. If you feel strongly against something have the b___s to say something instead of coming here and whining.

  19. You have a right to think what you want, but it doesn't change reality in the least.

Teenage pregnancy is a nation wide issue. Neither s*x-ed, or abstinence only stops or even slows down this situation.

I for one embrace the idea that people who face the SAME issues, the same troubles that most of the nation has as well should be the ones to lead us.

Only somoene out of touch with reality, would suggest this is abhoring!

  20. well, who's stopping you? if you are an american, i'm sure you know about the first amendment...free speech and all that jazz. as long as you are not disturbing or hurting anyone, you CAN speak out.and the people you are speaking to have their right of free speech, too...plus, you would have a more effective argument if you listen to the opposition and develop a comprehensive argument against their reasoning and for yours.

  21. First off I am an Obama supporter ... She can preach and preach all day long till she is blue in the face but at the end of the day it is her DAUGHTER who makes the decision to have unprotected s*x or not ... This could happen to anyone ... including you.

  22. i don't fault anyone for the mistakes of their kids... i fault them for being bad parents though when their kids grow up spoiled brats.... and also no matter how much of a good parent you are your kids are still going to make mistakes....

    EDIT:

sorry forgot to put this in here... site me one place where she has said it was OK... as far as I've heard she never said it was OK just that she was going to help support her daughter and the baby....

  23. Who is this politician?

  24. A TRUE christian would not say that because it goes against God's word.

  25. If you're this hard on Sarah Palin because her daughter is pregnant then I have to assume you were even harder on John Edwards when you learned of his affair.

  26. Why must you label her as a Christian?

I think it was horribly WRONG her daughter committed that horrible sin.

Celebrities I don't care about. All they do is earn millions of dollars and most of them complain and turn into drug addicts.

But politicians, I agree. they should be putting out a good example. But the mother shouldn't be punished for the daughters faults. (even though she should've kept an eye on her like a mother should.)

  27. well it may be because some christians, of which i am guilty of in the past, choose to reason away what they want to do which is in direct opposition to the principles and laws written in the Bible.

  28. I'd just like to know how she expects to help lead a country if she can't manage to figure out how to manage her daughter.

I also find it a little weird that someone who claims to be so Christian and traditional is running for office when traditional, Christian values say she should be at home raising her kids. Not that I care. These are the values she claims to have, and they are not mine.

She can do what she wants with her life, I just don't want her any where near government.

  29. You should educate your son.  you shouldn't rely on the mass media to educate you son on moral issues.  If you are, you are doing a poor job as a parent.

  30. I wouldn't bother me so much if she was liberal, but the fact that she's messing with OUR kids education and she can't keep her child in check bothers me.

  31. I mean really!

    (Think they'll get it?)
