  1. There's no rhme or reason.  It's the same as asking why 12 hotdogs and 8 buns?

  2. Its cheaper to cut cardboard in straight lines as opposed to a curved line. This is because they use a 'die' to cut the cardboard, a new die would cost a substanial amount to produce and would only be useful for pizza and a couple other applications. It is also easier to carry a box vs. a round object of the same weight/mass. Think of carrying a square box vs a car tire. ...... = )

  3. Square boxes are easier to manufacture and fold so they are more cost effective in terms of materials and labor.

  4. It's all a matter of convenience & being economical. A square box is much cheaper than a round one. The pizza dough naturally makes a circle when you toss it. : )

  5. Square boxes are substantually easier to make than circle boxes.

  6. It is more cost efficient alot less cutting of cardboard using squares and you don't have as much unused cardboard when cutting a square instead of a circle

  7. Duh! They couldn't choose which shape was better, so they used both! Everybody know that! Plus, it's easier to get a round pizza out of a square box. ;)

  8. Overhead costs.  It's cheaper for the pizza company to buy square boxes to package their pizzas than to have round boxes custom designed and produced.

  9. do u find a square pizza in a round box? No..that explains everything!

almost 99.9% of boxes made in the world are in either square or rectangle shape..moreover VolumeWise almost all geometric shapes fit into either a square or rectangular box..it's a fact!

  10. My husband and I both use to work at a company that makes "boxes".... square/rectangle/triangular, etc. are easier to make out of corrugated.  Round would pose a more expensive container... more waste too. Not very economical. More difficult to store too.

  11. round boxes aren't viable for transport, production and cost effectiveness.

it's just a compact and very stable idea for not only pizza but most things.

eh,  i must stop myself before i make the joke... ok, too late..

    it's hip to be square.

  12. thats funny i just ate pizza for lunch!!! :) idk maybe its a tradition back in the 50's.

  13. probably so all the grease can spread around the box more and not stay on the pizza.. ew

  14. easier to design a square box than a round one.

  15. boxes are hard to make round, and  pizzas are to make square.

  16. they do this so when the customer opens the box they have space to put there hand in to grab the pizza.

  17. idk...but thats a really good question........now u got me thinkin!........lol

  18. its easier to make a square box. and so you dont have trouble getting your pizza out.

  19. It is a higher cost and higher labour to build a round box.

  20. Because circular boxes would look q***r. lol

  21. lmao.

    very nice question..

when u figure out an answer, let me know =)

  22. Square pizzas are too hard to remove from square boxes and round boxes are too expensive and time consuming to put together.

  23. Yeah, and why does Wendy's put their square hamburger patties in a round bun???

  24. good question, lol. so you can have room for the dipping sauce. lol

  25. I guess it's the same reason why there are 10 hot dogs in a package and 8 hot dog buns.
