I am looking to purchase a telephoto lens for my Canon 400D digital SLR, I believe a lower f number is better but the Sigma 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 DG Macro len is cheaper than the 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS Lens! Why is this as I thought the larger the mm the more you could zoom in so the better?

  1. The Sigma 18-200mm has OS (Optical Stabilisation) which means you get less blur and shake free photos ( usually 3 to 4 stops). also the motor is a little quieter and slightly less Chromatic Abberations. Although Its heavier than the 28-300mm due to housing of the OS system
