Does it represent something?

How did the torch evolve in to sports?

Does it have something to do with the Ancient Greece Olympics?

Thanks.

  1. I know that the tradition of sending the torch around the world before the competition started with the Berlin Olympics. I'm not sure, but Hitler did want to make it the most spectacular games to prove German greatness and maybe he had something to do with that. I do know that this tradition was never used in the older Olympics and started with the Berlin Olympics. However i do not know too much about lighting the torch to signal the starting of the games, but a torch was part of the ancient games and burned throughout. As you read this i have edited this , as I have read on wikipedia that Goebbels (head of propoganda for Hitler) helped introduce the torch relay. Man I was right, That is cool. The torch relay was a n**i thing, koolio and interesting.
