Question:

Why is abortion even an issue?

Every four years we hear the same rhetoric the right screams that it is murder and the left screams that they are coming to take it away. For the past thirty years we have been hearing this and I believe thirty years from now we will still be hearing it. Is this just an issue brought up every few years just to force people to take sides?

  1. the isssue is that the federal gov. has no business legislating it.  republicans point in repealing r vs w is that it is and issue for states to decide, not fed judges.

  2. Abortion is a legalized form of murder!  The reason why it isn't restored to its status as a crime is because it offers some benefits for society, mostly because it picks up the slack for people that are not responsible and get pregnant when they can't afford children.  Crime goes down.  Welfare goes down.  You can't say those aren't good things, but the means don't justify the end.

  3. Yes, I strongly believe so.

  4. Because of what some stone age people wrote down in their bible 5000 years ago.

  5. It is an issue because the next President will have the opportunity, perhaps, to finish Bush's shifting of the Supreme Court to the right.

  6. The issue is not in itself an important political issue as far as the presidential candidates are concerned but the possible future appointments to the Supreme Court make the choice of candidate important.

  7. It is quite possible that it is just a dividing issue.  It really doesn't matter much to me.  In this current election, the biggest factor for me is the candidates' approach to energy solutions for the future.  I think that holds the key to a lot of problems with the economy as well.

  8. Well...In my opinion>>>>

God cannot honor a child-killing nation. God will not honor a child-killing candidate.

    Abortion is killing.

Anyone supporting abortion slays a human being.

How could a moralist then ever vote for an abortion-endorsing candidate, no matter the office?

    Murder? It's murder.

Abortuaries are where innocent mortal lives are extinguished, as in the Hitler gas chambers, as in Stalin's killeries throughout Siberia, as in China's rape of Tibet, as in Darfur's bloodletting.

Murder cannot be sidelined just because it is not called "murder." The term "abortion" may mask the atrocity. But it must not mask the atrocity. Moralists must not permit it.

There are some who say they would vote for a powerful pro-choice candidate just to undo the opposition. Not. That's not sane. That's not moral

  9. Oh yes

  10. It's a moral issue, those take forever to go away.

  11. abortion IS murder. you are taking the life of a being. how can someone get away with killing their child that they KNOWINGLY laid down KNOWING the consequences?  how is getting 'rid of the baby' ok (abortion) and then when someone kills a woman who is pregnant, its homicide for both woman and baby? how is that legal?

not to go on a rant or anything, so i am sorry.. but i think that if you lay down and spread yer legs--you know what the consequenses could be. if you don't want to take that risk, then you shouldn't have s*x until you are ready. period.

    X3

  12. I believe there alot of more important issues than this. The Roe Vs

Wade became a law and I don't understand once something is a

law, why it could be overturned or change. If this happens, there be

nothing but laws changing all the time. ECONOMY & THE WAR is

    much more important.

  13. Because it's murder. It's killing an innocent life. Why should an innocent life have to die for someone having s*x unprotected? Or even if they were protected, they knew there is always a risk for pregnancy.

  14. Republicans make a LOT of money using "Anti-Abortion" as a fund raising tool.

  15. The death penalty is a legal form of murder as well.

  16. abortion is

  17. You need to focus on the Big picture. The real issue here is who would the new president appoint to the Supreme Court. Currently it is projected that several of the current Judges will retire. If that's the case, the president will make a huge impact on the court for many years to come. Of course, the Supreme Court could over turn Roe vs Wade and make abortions illegal. So the question is, do you support the candidate who believes all life is sacred or the candidate who believes it is appropriate to end a life.

  18. its so hard for me to understand why anyone feels that abortion is anyone elses business, especially someone like Palin who murders animals

  19. It's not, it's a distraction.

  20. I don't know.

The people who are screaming out against Choice are FREE not to choose it - but who they h**l are they, thinking they speak for everybody!!

  21. Ten years ago I was so anti-abortion that I couldn't even stand the thought of people being pro-choice. But I grew up and learned to see how the world really works. Now I'm so pro-choice that I backed a friend who's friend had an abortion.

  22. I have to think so... it give some people a reason to argue!

  23. I agree with a lot of my fellow responders, the Abortion issue is a big waste of time and a major distraction from serious issues.

Besides, let's no kid each other here. If the Republicans actually believed in Pro-Life, we never would have went to Iraq.

  24. if u r an unborn child it is very important

  25. yes i think it is

  26. That's what I used to think.  But the bottom line is that whoever becomes president next will probably get to appoint 3 or 4 supreme court justices.  And if it's McCain/Palin, then certainly Roe v. Wade will be overturned within 10 years and abortion will be outlawed in some states.

I only wish Republicans showed as much compassion for welfare kids as they do for the unborn.  But unfortunately they seem to love the unborn but hate the poor kid on welfare.

  27. It is more important now with a women in the vp spot as it has ever been. Especially when that one women thinks she can decide for the rest of us!
