Question:

Why is access denied on old hard drive?

I transfered my old hard drive to another computer, and tried to pull the files off. When I went to pull them off, access was denied. So, I logged on to the "administrator account" and access is still denied. I have over 20,000 pictures on there that I need to get off. Thanks!

  1. Was your earlier drive password protected? What OS were you using? Can you still open the photo files / see them in the folders? What method did you use to transfer the contents of the old drive to the new one? Does the access denied error pop up when you "cut" and "paste" these files or is it there simply when you access them? What format are the photo files in?

One needs all this information to suggest a possible remedy as without this it is impossible to ascertain the problem. Repost with this information or go to a local computer specialist to help you!
