i asked why they were doing so badly and not on top of the ( official ) table that means the more gold you win the higher you go . america make's their own table and takes it by the amount of medal's you get

that mean's that if the state's got no gold but 90 + of silver and bronze they would still be top , but with second rate athlete's

please no negative answer's from the american's like the last answer

  1. I think tighter drugs tests play a [art they have to stop taking earlier than they wished. tyson injured two months before and funny how he dropped the batton. drug tests for winners and placed.

  2. I don't think they are doing badly. For example, it's been stated many times before that while the USA focuses on a lot on team sports, China is the opposite; they focus on as many individual sports as they can. Since they are the host team, they are also allowed as at least one person in each sport. I also think it's unfair for you to refer to those who win silver and bronze 'second rate athletes.' The great thing (or sometimes not so great depending on what you're a fan of) about sports in general is that anyone can win on any given day. And while I will always support the USofA, it is obvious that they're not always going to be sports power in the world. I think it's good for the games if there is a lot of competition. It makes it interesting. But just because you don't win gold, doesn't mean you did bad. It just means that somewhere else did better than you on that day.

  3. you cant always win

  4. because china is full of **** unlike Japan or South Korea or Taiwan

    ok lets be serious now

    think about it

    a country have 10gold 0 silver 0bronze

    b country have 5gold 10 silver 10bronze

which ones better? it can be very different for each countries but this is how US counts their medals since the begining

  5. Because of the chinese gymanstics who are underaged!!!!!

  6. I think it's mostly the USA women aren't getting as many gold medals as Chinese women. Maybe Chinese women have their priorities right by working hard, and too many USA women spend too much time with their noses in celebrity magazines while talking as if they're dumb and everything is a question.

  7. America is second to china in the gold count.  I don't see how that's so bad.  Especially when apparently the rules of age restrictions in gymnastics do not apply to china.  The rules of protest also seem to not apply in other events.

Really though I would say it is in the sheer number of people who live in china and the fact that china has home field advantage for these games. It does seem like the americans have thrown away medals in the track and field events.

Anyway, I would not say that they are doing bad.  I'm sure any other country in the world would love to have the amount of golds that the americans have accumulated.  It's just that when it comes to the U.S.  their standards of excellence are higher then everyone else.  The U.S.  Wants to be second to none.  So even if they are second, they will view it as failure, while everyone else would consider second in the medal count a victory.

  8. Atheletically we were expecting challenges from China and Russia.  We expected the host country, China to do well.  But Russia is the one dragging way behind, so why isn't anyone, including the media, focusing on that?   Even lil ole England is now ahead of Mother Russia.

  9. How America calculates American success is entirely up to America. It has nothing to do with us.

We have fat Gordon with his I'm British not Scottish PR machine promising double funding in preparation for the next olympics. That knowing Jock Brown means he is going to raise taxes.

Not exactly going to cut the price of a pint of milk if we came last is he?

The Olympics is about National pride, fat Gordon is trying to electioneer on the back of our success, while America are presenting figures Americans want to see. What's the difference?

  10. I disagree about the amount of gold medals being of higher value over the silver and bronze medal counts for any country, not only the USA.  I think that's an excuse for the other countries to try appearing better than the USA even though there should be honorable mention to those that earn silver and bronze.  Four years is definitely a long time to train and hone your skills in order to perform on the World stage.

I like the way the media outlets use total medal count, because if Russia or China had a higher total medal count, the US would not complain at all, but rather congratulate those countries for excelling in the world of sport!  We'll find out after Sunday to see who's on top!

  11. wow did you come up with this all by yourself? or did you just copy it from the million of other questions exactly like this...last time i checked america is doing awesome in the olympics, way better than your ******** country

  12. Well, what can you expect from too much electronic games, fast food, too many "couch potatoes" watching television, too much computers, junkie movies  like those ridiculous action movies, drugs and general laziness and indifference? Poor showing in the olympics. I can understand.

  13. It is simply a result of leveling of the playing field, pun unintended. As more and more countries get access to better nutrition, facilities, and money, the gap between traditionally strong sports powers and other 'developing nations will decrease. China's resurgence is just one example. Another is the rise of Jamaica as a track and field power albeit at America's expense. But then it is good for the sport. Sports is no fun if only one country dominates.

  14. i guess IOC is improving on steroid tests.

  15. Why do you think they are doing badly?  they have the most medals

in total; China has the most in gold but less in the total!

  16. Why are we doing so badly? I didn't know that being second on the gold medal tally was bad. Hmmmm.....GB is third, if we're doing badly then you must all be doing outrageously horrible. Personally I think it's good how well China is doing!!  The U.S. can't always be on top, and I never expected us to be. As for you stating that you don't want negative answers from Americans, well your question is very negative.

I don't know why our media and yahoo likes to count total medals to determine success. So sorry I can't really give you a good answer to that one.

Also, considering the population of Australia, they're doing really well!! Congrats to the Aussies!! GB is doing well too!! I think every country has something to celebrate. In my eyes, no one is doing badly.

Edit: I would have to agree with Micheal. These people train for years to compete at the world level. It should be honored when you compete against a lot of people and still win the silver or bronze!

  17. i dont think the u.s. is doing bad at all. china has the most gold medals, while the u.s. has the most medals overall.

that tells me that both china and the u.s. are doing great.

  18. because the judges cannot be bought in china so no more usa boxers taking a beating then getting a decision or gymnasts falling off apparatus and getting perfect tens Im afraid..its a little bit fairer now and that is a concept that you dont seem to understand
