Why is an obese cat getting more media attention than a murdered American Muslim woman?

Yes, a 44 lb cat has 658 related articles written about it according to google, and a Muslim woman murdered in an honor killing by her father gets how many?

Is this just incredibly sad, or incredibly ridiculous, or both? I can accept the murdered woman's story not getting enough media attention, because a lot of heinous things are happening everyday in the world, but the fat cat in NJ? No offense to the cat, it's an innocent creature who was overfed by it's owners, but why does it deserve to have 658 articles written about it?

I know what you mean!! I think if the story had something to do with a muslim doing something bad then it would have probably been all over the news! It is ridiculous how muslims are being mistreated and not treated fair at all!!

HAVE YOU EVER HEARD DON HENLEY'S "DIRTY LAUNDRY"?  THE NEWS ONLY CARES ABOUT WHAT WILL GRAB ATTENTION, WHICH GRABS MORE VIEWERS, WHICH MEANS MORE MONEY FROM ADVERTISERS.

SINCE PEOPLE ARE USED TO SEEING DEATH ON TV (ON THE NEWS, IN MOVIES, AND ON TV SHOWS), SADLY A FAT CAT IS CONSIDERED HIGHER PRIORITY AND IS MORE SHOCKING.

It definitely points out how the media decides what is put out for consumption ... yes the cat is a sight ... but it is really a non-story isn't it ... should be in a pet magazine ... not mainstream media ....

This "honor" killing has somehow been deemed a non-story by our wonderful media ... it just makes you ashame .. doesn't it?

Mostly because the modern media broadcasters have learned that there is far more money to be made in entertainment then in news.

What sickens me the most is that people think that this form of entertainment is the news.

Fox is about the only media outlet that isn't focused on the severity of dead fat cats and more on the elections, the war on Muslim extremist who terrorise people and countries they want wiped off the face of the earth. And it is where I heard this story, the honor killing.

I don't know why the cat got so much publicity, I like cats, but when I think of what Muslims do to each other (and us) I despair. These are people who claim the moral high ground so what does that say about the fact that we don't kill our adulterers or chop the hands off our thieves?

The US is in war with a Muslim Organization and so not many Americans would like Muslims because they believe these Muslims were the same people who killed their family or friend/s.

More Americans, in comparison like cats. The Media is a business, not a social service.

Yes, it is sad. It´s dreadful.

Actually, a lot of such honor murders are happening around the Muslim world and there are no reports about them whatsoever.

(Even more dreadful, if you ask me is that many Muslim countries apply mild penalties for such crimes.)

As per the cat, I guess it gets more attention simply because it provokes sensation easy to sell!

Because cats are lovable and to this date there have been no reports of suicide bomber cats!! hope i didn't give ideas
