  1. Art is controversial because it has no defined limits - the boundaries of what art can be are ever expanding. It's materials, techniques, content, concept , its uses and roles have changed throughout history and continue to do so. This transience and evolution will always cause debates as to what can or cannot be considered as art and why, and contemporary practitioners often produce art ABOUT art with the specific intent of extending what are considered as existing boundaries.

    There are also specific works that are made in full knowledge that they will stir controversy, usually with the thought that they will cause debate on other issues. The link below is to a work I'm sure the artist knew would be classed as controversial, with an intention of causing debate on the subject it depicts.


  2. because the religious right wings make a big deal out of nekkid people.

    but king david led a parade into jerusalem and didn't wear a stitch he was barenekkid as a newborn babe. and his wife at the time cursed him for it and God cursed her for it....that king david did some things wrong to be sure but that wasn't one of them.
