  1. that's not art, that's entertainment,

    and they are celebs.

    but i pay no attention to them anyway, got no time for "entertainment".


  2. Almost no artist painting today who sells their work has it bought because someone thinks it's going to be a great investment. The few who are fortunate to have developed a large following, like Hockney and Scharf and Haring, certainly have wealthy clientele but most of today's artist, and I'm not talking about older established artists from the 50s, 60s and 70s, sell their works to people who truly want to own and hang their work.

    Where your hypothesis lays is in the last generation and the market jump for works from the period between 1950 and 1970.

  3. Modern contemporary painting is a delusion. People buy to invest, but later on prices will go a long downhill, and only REAL artists will emerge again.
