Why is australia zoo so uniquely australian?

When Australia Zoo was named the animals there were Australian: i.e:kangaroos,koalas etc.So the name was suitable then.

It's not uniquely Australian all it is, is very well known. If it was uniquely Australian then every zoo in Australia would be uniquely Australian. Trust me I know my brother used to work there and I live ten minutes drive from the place.

I think it is the tigers and the elephants.  They give the place a real Australian feel.

Australia zoo is unique because it is run by the irwin family and steve irwin(now deceased crocodile hunter) put his whole life into the zoo

We have unique wildlife here so it would be appropriate to show them to the world.
