i don't understand that. i just recently started ballet but still, it's a lot of hard work and after each class i'm extremely sore and i worked muscles that i didn't even know i had. i know a lot of guys that talk a big game but won't last a minute in a ballet class. it's definitely one of the toughest sports.

  1. it's considered feminine because throughout history dancing has been associated with displaying women's bodies to men. Not in a sick way, but for entertainment...kinda like how big skirts were used. But, really, it's a very difficult activity that requires an immense amount of strength. Good for you for doing it even though you're a guy!! That's awesome.

  2. its considered so because dancing in considered girly and because you have to be very graceful and ballet is a beautiful dance i am in ballet and it IS hard and to that guy who said it is easy he doesnt know wat hes talkin about!!!!!

  3. It is considered feminine because men arnt meant to be graceful they are suppose to known for footy and soccer. Its kind of like why is footy considered more of a manly sport then for women. But i don't think its feminine i rekon more boys shld do ballat its great excerise. Keep at it!

  4. bcz it is.

same reason why contact sports are masculine.

  5. Because it requires grace and poise and beauty(I'm not saying boys can't be pretty too!). You have to look light on your feet, and since women are smaller, they tend to look lighter on thier feet. Also, when you think of women, most people think of us being lady-like and polite and to look pretty, but we're really tougher than we look. The same thing applies with dance: people think it's one thing, but it's actually another. Maybe that's another reason that peolpe think that ballet is feminine.

  6. i dont think it is feminine.

i dance myself and have since i was 3

    now i am almost 16.

    its an amazing sport.

one day we could be in new york dancing together

without the guys how could we be lifted?

men play an important role in ballet.

  7. Mostly because it is based on the beauty and grace of the girls, but you are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo right on the hard work! I've danced for 9 years and it is so hard! I saw a bumper sticker once that said something like "If football was any harder then it would be dance".

  8. Because it requires grace, and men (as a general rule) aren't graceful. But women (as a general rule) are. Thus the stigma that ballet is feminine.

  9. they think it cuz they havnt tried it

i do ballet and it is one of the hardest sports and yet they think that it is easy

  10. its considered feminine because you prance around in tight clothes basicly it probably is hard but i can tell you right now i could do it no problem

  11. Ballet is one of the visual arts where the ladies are more the focus because of the nature of the female body! Curves, contours and shapes! While it's true that males are required to act out love scenes and artistic drama, they are more a support to bring out the beauty of the Ladies.

The male spectators are taking in more of the visual effects, while the women; the emotions and drama!

Don't be totally disillusioned!! The lady spectators are noticing the male dancers and having internal quivers!
