I think it's a little bit silly and that something like the NFL style of windbreaker would work better.

  1. tradition, plus it is the most practical.  You wouldn't see football coaches wearing pads, or basketball coaches wearing those sleeveless jerseys, but a baseball uniform is practical and it makes the manager look like part of a team.

  2. in soccer they can wear a club jacket shellsuit or a normal suit.

  3. thats a good question but i think its about pride and being a part of the team

  4. Well if you think about it they'd look silly without uniforms but usually i see the coaches wear team shirts over the jerseys

  5. I think it's because a baseball jersey can be pulled off as a normal shirt.

Football and hockey you have pads and in basketball, it's not really a shirt. I think baseball managers wear their uniforms because it doesn't really look like a jersey and can be pulled off as a normal piece of clothing. Plus a lot of managers have been wearing a jacket over it like Francona and Torre.

  6. I Think It's Because It Signifiys That There A Part Of The Team

  7. 1. Hockey coaches would look stupid in a hockey uniform

    2. Do u want to see old men in shorts and tanktops in the NBA

    3. Football coaches would look weird in those types of jerseys

In conclusion, every other sport looks dumb if the coach was in a uniform

  8. they don't require it it more of a tradition Connie mac used to wear suits.

  9. The answer to this question is the same as it was last week, the week before, last month, the month before last, etc.

The rules require all players and coaches on the roster to be in uniform when on the field. Remember: Baseball is the only sport in which the coaches actually go onto the field for their duties.

  10. You must be in uniform to go on the playing field. Baseball is the only sport in which managers and coaches can go on the field (such as the pitching coach going out to the mound). Do football coaches ever leave the sidelines? How about basketball coaches? Have you ever seen a hockey coach come out onto the ice?

  11. Because NFL coaches cant wear a uniform with shoulder pads or a helmet you have to conside that is part of the uniform and basketball coaches cant wear shorts and a tanktop because you cant tell the player from the coach

  12. In the early 20th century, there were such thing as a player-manager who would wear a jersey and play/manage. Ever since then, baseball came to like the idea. I don't think a basketball coach would look good in a basketball jersey or a hockey/football coach wearing all that stuff the players wear.

  13. Because especially in the past and not so much now some of the managers were player/manager.  I believe the last one was when Pete

Rose coached the reds before he was banned from baseball.  It has also become a big part of the baseball tradition and the managers and coaches are all part of the team.

  14. well do you think a suit would look good after a game after sitting in the nastyass dugout..dirt..spit all over??...i don't lol

  15. well anyone that has to be on the field of play must have on a uniform, if managers didnt have on a uniform they could not be able to go to the pitchers mound, for conferences.

  16. I agree with Tammy D.  They have to look like part of the team and to show interest in the game.
