  1. I'm so glad that you asked this question. I felt like maybe I was the only one to feel this.  I am 32 weeks along and I have been feeling this for some time now.

Most days I wake up and my belly button and the area around it are fine but once in a blue moon I wake up and it hurts like h**l. I kept thinking that it was my belly button getting ready to pop out, but it hasn't.

I did ask the doctor and she said the same thing about the umbilical cord thing.

It's the worst because my fiance is tall and his belt buckle on his pants is right where the pain is so when he hug it really hurts.

    Congrats on the baby!!

  2. Your belly button is in effect scar tissue from where you were attached to your mother by the umbilical cord. Your stomach is starting to stretch slightly to accommodate the growing baby. In effect your skin is stretching and pulling on that old scar tissue... Its only going to get worse I'm afraid to tell you. The pains experienced in pregnancy are extensive.

I started out with an innie belly button and ended up with an outie by the time I was done (though it went back post birth)

Nothing to worry about, if it stresses you that much you can bring it up at your next doctors app but I wouldn't concern myself over it.

    Good Luck and Congrats!

  3. I am 23 weeks and unfortunately, like the comment above mine, it will only get worse.  Your skin is stretching so you will feel discomfort.  I was actually okay until recently.  I also have a belly ring and it was hurting like crazy. I thought for sure it was the ring but I have had it out for a few days and its still sore. Its all part of the growing pains of motherhood.

I would also suggest being careful with the heating pad around your belly.  They say it isn't good to take hot baths or have extreme body temperatures while you are pregnant. I would check with your Doctor on what he/she recommends to alleviate the discomfort..

    Good luck!
