Why is best to follow your instinct on things?

It's not always the best way to make a decision. I try to integrate my knowledge with my my gut reactions. It's important to use reality to reach an intelligent decision. Instincts are based on emotional responses, and for me, they are not always right.

I believe 'instinct' is the spirit within us to protect us from our human mind.  The mind can get corrupt by teachings, thoughts and deeds.  However, 'instinct' is pure.  To bad most people don't use it.

On instinct or gut feeling?  Go with your gut, always. Our past lives are what make these gut feelings and it is that subconcious feeling that helps guide us as well as our psychic intuition.  But, be careful because your gut feeeling can be misjudged easily too.  Mine sometimes is telling me to not do something instead of to do it! It is somthing you have to practice  to understand completely.  Try doing it with small things like guessing who will be on the phone when it rings.  Start journaling  your guesses and the feeling you got before u make your guess, and if u were right or not.  You will start to have a better understanding then. Your instincts are there to protect u!

It isn't necessarily.

The problem is its' hard to know whether your instincts are the result of your processing subtle clues that you've not consciously noticed, or is a misconception of some kind.

It also depends on the context, and on the consequences of either following or ignoring your instinct.
