because they feel like being blue. And blue happens to be my favorite color, so I like them. Lol, idk. I can imagine them in other colors though, thats an interesting question. Imagine if they were bright orange, or pink. That would be interesting.

I toured the Blue Man Group theater in the Venetian hotel in Vegas, and the tour only covered the reason why they wear the paint, as far as I remember. The woman giving the tour told us that they wear paint and black clothes so that you cant tell how old they are, what nationality they are, or what they look like.  They want their performances to be judged on just that: the performance, not what they look like outwardly.  Which is really cool.  But as for why blue, I'm sorry, but I don't remember if they said.

i've seen interviews where the founders (CMP) were asked this very same question, and they only thing they have ever really said was blue is a peaceful and calming color... and they liked it lol.

when aked "why blue?"

they replied "why not?"

I don't think too much thought was put into the color when they dressed up for their first "event/show" a funeral for the '80s.

once they started actually performing, they just kept the color.... then they began to grow famous so of course they weren't gonna change it then!
