  1. Wasn't it a planned city?

  2. Because Brasilia is not city!!!!

  3. Brasilia was a completely 'planned' city.  Brasil wanted a new capital, and selected a sparsely populated area in the country's interior.  Using the 'Plano Piloto' concived by urban planner Lucio Costa the city was construct between 1956 and 1960.  Many of the major buildings were designed by the architect Oscar Niemeyer.

  4. because it was built to be the capital of Brazil

  5. It's the capital of the world's 5th largest nation, which was built in record-time and inaugurated in 1960 (prior to that Rio was the capital). Nowhere else will one see such extraordinary sunsets/-rises and cloud formations.

The design of that planned city obeys the outline of an ibis, the "head" hosting the congress- and senate-buildings, the "body" holds the ministries, the "wings" the citizen's dwellings... It's also one of the dryest capitals in the world: Humidity rarely exceeds 25%.

  6. Because Brasilia was built out on nowhere to boost economy.
