Why is california seen as a liberal state?

yet we have a republican(yet quite liberal I know) governor and republican mayors in cities like san diego.

Go look at the election results in your state. g*y marriage, liberal governor, overrun with anti-war protestors, home to countless far left celebrities. If that doesn't convince you, walk around San Francisco.

Are you kidding with this question? California just ruled in favor of g*y marriages. Is that not liberal enough for you!!!! Our governor might be republican, but his wife is a big time democrat. Again any state who would vote Arnold into office have to be some liberals who lost their minds. As for San Diego....look around....San Diego is home to big military bases and the military members.

Because the vast majority of people in California are liberals.  The policies of that state lead to a socialist redistribution of wealth and the state has some of the most liberals welfare programs in the nation.

Number one reason I left after 18 years in that c**p hole.

Because our elected officials are PREDOMINATELY liberal democrats, and an overwhelming majority of our voters are also liberal democrats.  Our wonderful state has SADLY been "blue" for several decades now.
