  1. It is because the legal system in Northern Ireland is slightly different to the rest of the UK in the way it treats compensation claims. Historically compensation claims for road accident victims have been higher in Northern Ireland than in the rest of the UK, and as these claims are usually paid by insurance companies, it increases the cost of insurance policies.

This is compounded by the increased costs meaning that many "low-cost" insurance companies do not offer their policies in Northern Ireland, so reducing competition in the insurance market.

  3. Numnusto v has it in a nutshell.  Theres more car crime in N.I. than in Britain (relatively speaking) so it costs more to insure.  And no, it's not funny, cos the insurance companies rip you off, yet you still need insurance to be legal!

  4. Because of dirty stinking filthy car thieves, the provies and loyalists didn't whack enough of the scum bags.  The insurance rate over in Britain is lower because they don't have as many scumbags as we do here per capita.  A  major purge is needed take all the fuc'kers out mr smith and wesson who lives at number 36 needs to pay the hydebank brigade a visit.
