  1. Carbon dioxide concerns the greenhouse effect: ozone depletion is a separate issue. Read links below to learn more.

  2. It isn't.

Ozone is attacked by certain chemicals, particularly chlorine and bromine, resulting from compounds such as chlorofluorocarbons.

Ozone by the way IS a greenhouse gas. People complain about excess greenhouse gasses. But then complain about insufficient ozone. Shouldn't we want less?

The greenhouse effect is what is known as radiative forcing. Solar energy reflected up from the surface is partly reflected back down by certain chemicals in the atmosphere. It's a silly term because actual greenhouses do not function that way, they work by blocking convection. Were it not for radiative forcing Earth would be much colder and may not support life as we know it. This greenhouse effect is vital. The most prominent greenhouse gas is water vapor, responsible for virtually all of the process.

The two issues are related to human activity but they are separate.

Relax, Earth is fine and there's nothing you can do about that. The Sun is in control.
