  1. Don't forget he was Ash's strongest Pokemon so a lot of people decided start with Charmander, I'm guessing thats why Charizard is so popular.

but from a competitive point of view Charizard's potential has greatly diminished with the new generations so as of late we have been seeing less him.

And in Pokemon Red & Blue he  strong because:

a.) he didn't have that horrible flying typing which exposes him to things like stealth rock

b.) he was perfect for people that love minimal strategy and just love to pummel the opponent when compared to other Pokemon like Venusaur who is famous for his leech seed

c.) he simply looks strong and aggressive.

    d.) he's ......"very old school"....

  2. just like Pikachu

  3. what the person above me said and cause its strong and well known

think why not show a pokemon that is well known more than once

  4. I guess it's because Charizard is a powerful fire pokemon and it can also fly. Charizard was very popular back then. (And I believe it still is...slightly).

But in FireRed,I used Blastoise. :3

    Edit:

Charizard resembles a large traditional European dragon, and also somewhat resembles the Jersey Devil. Despite this, Charizard is explicitly not a Dragon type.

Equiped with a pair of strong wings, they are able to fly up to 1400 metres above the ground. Its pyrokinetic abilities are in this form so well-developed, that it is able to breathe fire hot enough to melt solid rock.

In the RPGs, Charizard can not be encountered in the wild. Nevertheless, the Pokédex entries in the Ruby and Sapphire games describe wild Charizard as violent yet honorable creatures, flying proudly around the sky and constantly seeking for powerful opponents to quarrel with. It will never turn its fiery breath on opponents weaker than itself, however.

  5. Well, typically they use it because what other fire pokemon are there that are good? Arcanine, Ninetails, and Magmar aren't available in both versions and aren't as strong. They also come late. And Venusaur and Blastoise can be replaced by pokemon of similar strength and sometimes better types relatively early in the game.

  6. Well I guess its popular because its such a  strong fire pokemon not only that but also a flying type which is a good advantage I really am not sure though.

  7. because it's one of the three main evolved forms of the starter pokemon

    and

    cuz

he totally PWNS blastoise and venasaur duH?!

  8. Because Charizard kicks tail! Haha, Charizard has always been one of my favourites, mainly 'cause he's a dragon and he's FIRE and I love fire types.

(I like having just a Charizard on my team. Like right now on FireRed I have one and her name is Hotaru...she's awesome. :3)

At any rate, I don't really know why everyone else loves Charizard, but...for me, it's just that he's a fire dragon.
