When the spanish move north to explore North America they brought some indians from the center who spoke Nahuatl dialect, when the spanish asked them how the land was called they came with the name Chihuahua which means " With Out Water" and from there on the region of New Vizcayne was also called Chihuahua.

The dog that originated here as a pet was later called Chihuahua also.
